FINLDLEY LAKE, N.Y. - Alex Spoerndle and Alanna Kirwan tied for sixth place with matching 87s as Mercyhurst took second place at the Penn State-Behrend Invitational.

The Lakers total of 351 was good for second place at the event, behind only Gannon. The Golden Knights shot 328 as a team to win the tournament. PSU-Altoona was third with 393. PSU-Behrend and Pitt-Bradford did not compile team scores.

Spoerndle and Kirwan tied for sixth to lead the Lakers. Just one shot behind, with an 88, was Caitlin Cummings in eighth place. Mattye Laurer shot an 89 to finish ninth. Abby Letson turned in a 104 to tied for 12th in the 20-player field.

The tournament was a tune up for this weekend's Mercyhurst Invitational on September 23 & 24.
