MIDLAND, Mich. - The Mercyhurst College women's golf team is in seventh place after the first day of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Championships at the par 72 Currie West Golf Club in Midland, Michigan.

Ferris State leads the competition with a total of 301, just one stroke ahead of Grand Valley. Northwood, the tournament host, is in third, but has the top individual in Jamie Long who shot a 71.

Lynn Hylwa paced the Lakers with an 85, good for 28th place. Hilary McCall shot a 90. Amy Natalie, Jennifer Halinda and Kaitlin Brody all turned in matching 92s.

The GLIAC Championships conclude on Sunday, April 23.
