Ashland, Ohio - The Mercyhurst women's golf team shot a 380 in the first round of the Ashland Invitational Saturday, placing seventh at the event.

Mattye Laurer and Kaitlin Brody each shot a 91 to lead the Lakers, while Alanna Kirwan followed with a 96. Jenny Halinda finished with a 102 and Abby Letson had a 121.

Ferris State led after round one with a 320, followed by Northwood with a 327 and California (Pa.) at 328. Findlay sits in the spot ahead of Mercyhurst with a 344, 36 strokes better than the Lakers.

Mercyhurst will compete in the second round of the Ashland Invitational Sunday.
