Mercyhurst's Foster Named GLIAC Runner of the Week
Oct. 17, 2007
Erie, Pa. - For his efforts at the Roberts Wesleyan Harry F. Anderson Invitational, Mercyhurst senior Kenneth Foster was named Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Cross Country Runner of the Week on Wednesday. He is the first Laker runner to earn the award this season. Foster cruised through the 8,000-meter course in a season-best time of 26:18.6 to finish in second place out of 134 finishers. Foster's time was just 16 seconds off the pace and 16 second ahead of the third-place finisher. It is the second time in his career that he has been named GLIAC Runner of the Week, as he earned the award as a junior in 2006. Foster's second-place finish on Saturday was his third top-two finish in as many weeks and his fifth top-10 appearance of the season. With Foster leading the way, the Lakers placed fourth out of 15 teams on Saturday. On Oct. 20, Mercyhurst will co-host the GLIAC Championships with Gannon at Pleasant Ridge Park in Fairview, Pa. |
