ERIE, Pa. - The Mercyhurst College men's water polo team is ranked ninth in the September 13 poll released by the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA). It marks the first time in school history that the Lakers have been ranked in the 10-team rankings.

Mercyhurst breaks into the rankings after winning four in a row, including all three of its matches last weekend at the Princeton Invitational. The Lakers also surrendered just a combined nine goals in the final two matches, including a win over Fordham in which the team allowed just three goals by the Rams. Two of the wins, over Iona and Fordham, avenged early season losses.

The Lakers, 4-3 on the season, play an exhibition match at home against Slippery Rock on September 16 in North East, Pennsylvania. Mercyhurst then travels crosstown to Penn State Behrend for a 7:00 match on September 23.
