Mercyhurst Announces 2005 Recruiting Class

Erie, Pa. - Mercyhurst College head men's water polo coach, Curtis Robinette, announced his 2005 recruits on Thursday, June 16.

1. Jorge Montero, Utility, 6'2, 190; Fort Lauderdale, FL; Northeast High School

2005 Florida State Champs, All-American 9, 10, 11, 12; Team MVP 9, 10, 11; Team Captain 10, 11, 12

2. Oscar Calderon, Point, 5'7, 180, Chicago, IL; Fenwick High School

2002, 2004, 2005 Illinois State Champs, All-American 10, 11, 12; 2005 Illinois Player of the Year, Team Captain 11, 12

3. Zachary Bell Center, 6'2, 185, Shillington, PA; Governor Mifflin High School

2004 Pennsylvania State Runner-Up, Four Year Varsity Starter, All-American 12, All-State 10, 11, 12; 2001 Pennsylvania Rookie of the Year; 2003 Berks County Player of the Year; Team Captain 12; Senior Year 78 goals, 37 assists

4. Andrew Schonhoff Center, 6'3, 205, Saint Louis, Mo; DeSmet High School

Robinette describes the class as the "best" in the abbreviated history of the program. "We were able to address specific needs", he said. "The 2005 team will be very young, but very talented."
