THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. - The Mercyhurst men's water polo team snapped a four-game losing streak and closed the Cal Lutheran Invitational with an 8-7 overtime upset of No. 18-ranked Redlands University Saturday evening.

Three of the Lakers' four losses during the skid were to nationally-ranked opponents. But on Saturday, Mercyhurst erased 7-5 third quarter deficit by outscoring Redlands 3-1 in the final frame to force overtime with the score tied 8-8.

In overtime, Mercyhurst scored once and kept Redlands off the board to improve its record to 4-4 on the season.

Mercyhurst is now 2-0 in overtime this season, having defeated Iona 5-4 on Sept. 8.

The Lakers return to Erie and take on crosstown rival Gannon on Sept. 25 at 7 p.m.
