Dallas, Texas

Last College:
Colorado College '69

Position:
Head Coach

First Year At MC:
1995

Yost began his collegiate coaching career when he took over the Mercyhurst College men's team in 1995. That year his squad was the No. 2 ranked team in the Eastern United States for Division II, upsetting nationally ranked Slippery Rock University in the Eastern Region playoffs. The upset earned his team a spot in the 1995 NCAA Division II National Championships in Davis, California. The Lakers ultimately fell to the No. 1 team in the nation, Lander University, in the first round. The following fall, Mercyhurst joined the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC). The GLIAC, considered one of the toughest Division II conferences in the United Sates, proved to be just that. The Lakers proved equal to the challenge that first year and ended the season 11-3, good enough for a third place conference finish.

Both the men's and women's tennis teams earned NCAA Division II postseason bids in 2004 and 2005 and were named two of the top ITA All-Academic teams in the nation. That distinction was achieved by only five other D-II schools in 2005. Yost was also chosen GLIAC Men's Coach of the Year for his efforts in the 2005 season.

Yost has been involved with every facet of the tennis industry. His resume includes an extensive stint with the United States Tennis Association. He has served as District President, Vice President, and Ranking Chairmen for Adults and Juniors. He is has owned or operated tennis clubs in Albany, NY, Jamestown, NY, Syracuse, NY, Williamsport, PA, and Warren, OH. He has also served as a liquidating officer and bank receiver.

Yost has been a member of the United States Professional Tennis Association for 30 years with a Pro I ranking and is a member of the Professional Tennis Registry. The Westwood Racquet Club was voted USTA "Sectional Club of the Year" in 1992. He has owned and operated numerous overnight tennis camps and coached many nationally and sectionally ranked juniors. Yost has directed many professional exhibitions with such top players as Martina Navratilova, Marty Riessen, Bjorn Borg, and Stan Smith.

At Mercyhurst, Yost is the associate athletic director at Mercyhurst's North East campus, in charge of 12 sports, as well as the men's and women's tennis coach at Mercyhurst's main campus.

Yost attended Colorado College in Colorado Springs, Colorado, where he earned his bachelor's degree in Sociology. He was captain and MVP of his college team.

Yost has two children Jayson and Lindsay.
