After spending his first two seasons as a graduate assistant, Herbolsheimer enters his fourth year as assistant coach. He was a goaltender for the Mercyhurst varsity team from 1994 to 1998 and compiled an overall mark of 28-9-1. During his Mercyhurst career, Herbolsheimer was an All-Tournament goalie three times. He was also part of a team that won the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) West Division title in 1995 and hosted the NCAA Division II championship. Herbolsheimer was an NCAA Division II Sports Information Directors' All-American in 1996-97 and won the NCAA's National Goalie Winning Percentage Title (1996-97). After graduation, he worked as a goalie coach for the Cleveland Barons for two years before returning to his alma mater. He is primarily responsible for working with the Lakers' goaltenders.
