Syracuse, N.Y. - The Mercyhurst men's golf team is one of nine teams within 11 strokes of the leader after day one of the ECAC Division II Championship at Two Drumlins Golf Course in Syracuse, N.Y. There are 19 teams competing at the event.

The Lakers shot an 18-over par 302 on day one and sit in a three-way tie for seventh, 11 shots behind the leader, Post. Mercyhurst stands much closer to second place however, as the next eight teams are separated by only four strokes. Pace is all alone in second with a 298.

Kyle Waddell leads the Lakers and is tied for 13th out of 94 golfers after shooting 3-over 74. Craig Bishop finished with a 75 and Steven Barr had a 76. Brendan Flood, fresh off of winning the NCAA Great Lakes Regional individual championship, ended with a 77. Finally, Tyler Bidwell shot a 79.

Mercyhurst will wrap up the event on day two Monday.
