FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - A four-run first inning led to Mercyhurst's undoing in an 11-6 loss to No. 25 Nova Southeastern in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Trailing 5-0 in the third, Mercyhurst (5-3) got on the board with an RBI single by Brian Sanders that scored Dan Bertolini after the shortstop doubled to lead off the frame.

John Blike doubled home Jeff Stoll the following inning before the Sharks added a pair of runs to make it 7-2 through four innings.

Trey Bennett homered to lead off the sixth and singles by Jamie Walczak and Sanders brought home three runs in the eighth, but Nova Southeastern (12-3) added four runs in its final two at-bats to put the game away.

Sanders went 2-for-5 with two RBIs. Bennett was 2-for-3, homered and scored twice. Bertolini also scored twice in a 2-for-4 evening. Blike and David Lough also had two hits apiece.

John Mang took the loss for the Lakers. The sophomore allowed eight runs, six earned, in 6.1 innings. He surrendered 11 hits and walked four against four strikeouts.

Robert Matthews notched the win for Nova Southeastern. He allowed three earned runs on nine hits and a walk over six innings.

It was Mercyhurst's second loss of the day after falling to Lynn earlier. The Sharks have won seven straight.

Mercyhurst will look to rebound with a 2:00 PM game against Lynn at the Florida Atlantic 'B' Field in Boca Raton, Florida.
