Mitch Phillis, Football

Mitch Phillis helped Mercyhurst upset Wayne State this weekend in a 58-50 triple overtime victory. He threw for 283 yards and four touchdowns, while getting better as the game wore on. In the overtime sessions, he went 7-of-8 passing with three touchdowns. For the game, Phillis was 26-of-45 with just one interception.

Female Athlete of the Week
Taylor Hilisnki, Women's Soccer

Taylor Hilinski scored two goals in a 5-1 win over Northwood on Friday and added one more in a crucial 2-0 decision over No. 25 Saginaw Valley State on Sunday. Hilinski is the reigning GLIAC Player of the Week for women's soccer and currently has seven goals and two assists on the year, ranking second on the team in scoring. Honor roll - Caitlin Cummings, Golf; Jennifer Daly, Tennis; Kristen Fogle, Field Hockey; Rebecca Heintzman, Soccer; Cherie Jackson, Cross Country; Erin Kelleher, Field Hockey; Jenna Matson, Volleyball; Jacque Sluga, Soccer.

Team of the Week
Field Hockey

After losing five games to start the season, the Mercyhurst fi eld hockey team could have given up on the season. But the Lakers bounced back this week with a pair of gritty overtime victories, showing that they aren't about to throw in the towel. The Lakers secured their fi rst win of the season by beating Bellarmine 2-1 in double overtime Friday. Sophomore Kristen Fogle scored the game winner in the second overtime. Then, on Sunday, the Lakers continued to produce in overtime and received the game winner from senior Erin Kelleher. Junior Jennifer Coleman produced six saves against Bellamine and seven saves against Millersville respectively.
