Mercyhurst College Partners With B2 Networks

Mercyhurst College

Aug. 27, 2007

Erie, Pa. - B2 Networks and Mercyhurst College Athletics have announced a partnership that will bring 12 Lakers' sports to the premier broadband broadcasting network for the next three years. The partnership begins this fall with all home games for football, men's and women's basketball and men's and women's ice hockey shown live on B2 Networks. Selected home games for men's and women's volleyball, men's and women's soccer, men's and women's lacrosse and baseball will also be broadcast live on B2 Networks.

The men's ice hockey program, a member of the Atlantic Hockey Association (AHA), will be shown on B2 Networks as part of the AHA's recently announced league-wide partnership. The majority of Mercyhurst's other athletic programs are a part of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) for the 2007-08 academic year. B2 Networks currently has partnerships with six members of the GLIAC; Findlay, Hillsdale, Ferris State, Wayne State, Northern Michigan and Lake Superior State. Therefore, many of Mercyhurst's away games will also be broadcast live and be available to fans worldwide. Next season, when Mercyhurst joins the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC), its home games will continue to be shown live on B2 Networks.

"Mercyhurst athletics is very excited to be joining the ever growing B2 Networks family," stated Craig Barnett, Mercyhurst Athletic Director. "This opportunity will provide our student-athletes, families and fans with a whole new experience to support the Lakers!"

By teaming with B2 Networks, Mercyhurst athletics will be available for viewing by a worldwide audience. Live events will be aired through the schools athletic website http://www.hurstathletics.com. Fans wanting to watch Lakers athletics via B2 Networks will need a high-speed Internet connection and a current version of Windows Media Player. Games will be sold on an individual basis with special viewing packages to be announced at a later date.

"It is always exciting to add another outstanding institution like Mercyhurst College to our growing list of collegiate partners," stated Richard Brosal, B2 Networks Executive Vice President for Business Operations and Marketing. "Fans around the world will definitely enjoy watching the strong Lakers' athletic programs, especially the women's ice hockey, women's soccer and men's lacrosse teams that achieved success on the national level last year, live on B2 Networks."
