Irving, Texas-- - For the third time this year, a University of Memphis volleyball player has garnered Conference USA weekly honors. This time Tiger middle blocker/outside hitter Sarah Bury was the recipient as the she was tabbed a C-USA Co-Defensive Player of the Week the league office announce this afternoon. This is Bury's second career weekly award, as she earned Offensive Player of the Week accolades on Oct. 16, 2006.

Memphis' most versatile player, Bury assisted Memphis to a 3-0 record last week with 3-1 wins over Central Arkansas and Southern Miss plus a sweep over UCF. The Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada native, showcased her prowess on both the backrow and at the net, averaged a team-best 3.91 digs and making 1.00 blocks per game. She produced double-doubles against UCA (10 kills/13 digs) and Southern Miss (12 kills/16 digs). Her 16 digs against Southern Miss and 14 versus UCF were both team-highs. She added six blocks in the win at UCA, and two against both USM and UCF. In addition, she averaged 2.82 kills per game and a .275 hitting percentage on the offensive side of the net.

The Tiger junior has recorded six double-doubles this year. She currently ranks second on the squad with 206 digs (2.78/g) and 71 blocks (0.96/g), while ranking third on the team with 209 kills.

Memphis' other two Player of the Week honorees came on September 17, when middle blocker Shelby Burton was tabbed Co-Offensive Player of the Week, and setter Laura Côté earned Setter of the Week honors.

Bury and her teammates will hit the road for the next two matches. They will take on ECU on Friday, Oct. 12 at 7 p.m. EST. They will then travel to Huntington, W.V. to take on the league-leading Marshall Thundering Herd on Sunday.
