Jacksonville, Ala. - The University of Memphis volleyball team (9-18, 0-12) swept host Jacksonville State, 15-10, 15-7 and 15-11, here, Tuesday. The win snapped a two-game Memphis losing streak and a three-game JSU win-streak.

The two non-conference foes struggled early in the first game, with JSU going up 7-3 before Memphis adjusted to the Gamecocks offensive attack and pulled to 10-8 on four consecutive April Harriman kills. The Tigers took the lead for good when freshman Heather Sanders killed an overpassed JSU dig of a Brittany Barnett attack. The Tigers closed out the game, 15-10.

Memphis finished games two and three in style, with both final points being Tiger service aces. Junior Emily Eichmann tallied her 29th ace of the season for the match-winning point at 15-11 in the third.

Harriman led Memphis with 17 kills. Eichmann was second with seven kills and led the defense with 11 digs. Junior Ginger Garrett had six kills in the third game in the win.

The Tigers now travel to Birmingham to begin a home-and-home series with UAB. The Blazers and Tigers will face off at 7 p.m., Wednesday, in Birmingham, and will travel to Memphis to square off again at 7 p.m., Friday.
