MEMPHIS - University of Memphis thrower Gail Lee will take her final shot against the nation's best in the indoor shot put Friday as she competes in the NCAA Indoor Championships at the Randall Tyson Track Center in Fayetteville, Ark.

The Fort Worth native ranks sixth in the nation this season heading into tomorrow's event, which is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Head coach Kevin Robinson feels that Lee has a strong chance for a top-five showing, but is not putting any pressure on his star performer.

"Gail's goals are to beat her personal best again," Robinson said. "If she does that she should probably finish in the top-five. I personally just want to see her perform at her best, and if that happens I'll be happy no matter where she finishes."

The senior became the U of M's track program's first female All-American when she finished 10th in the shot at the 2005 Indoor Championships. After redshirting the indoor season in 2006, Lee hasn't missed a beat in 2007, breaking her personal-best in the shot four times this season.

Lee capped off her season two weeks ago at the Conference USA Championships where she shattered the conference record in the indoor shot by nearly six feet with a throw of 56-1.75. It was the fourth C-USA title of Lee's career.
