Murfreesboro, Tenn. - The University of Memphis women's tennis team heads to Murfreesboro to begin play Friday in the three-day Middle Tennessee State Invitational. The Lady Tigers will be joined by 13 other institutions - Appalachian St., Austin Peay, Ball State, Belmont, Chattanooga, Georgia St., Jacksonville St., Louisville, Middle Tennessee, Murray St., Tennessee Tech, UAB and Vanderbilt. This will be the second event of the season for Memphis. Last weekend in Evansville, Ind., Rabecca Garner captured the consolation bracket championship in Flight C singles and two other Lady Tigers made it the finals of the championship bracket before losing. Monica Gonzalez-Gordo made it to the finals of the A Flight singles and Sumitra Rao made it to the finals of the B Flight singles. This is the last tournament before the Lady Tigers host the 2001 Memphis Fall Invitational scheduled for October 13-14 at the University Varsity Courts.
