MEMPHIS, Tenn. - - Junior Ekin Zafir and sophomore Amanda Brown claimed their first doubles title of the fall in their first tournament playing together with an 8-5 win over the UALR team of Cortes and Garay on Saturday morning. Playing in the No. 2 doubles bracket of the Lady Tiger Fall Invitational, the duo opened the morning with an 8-5 win over the team of Pachon (TTU) and Fulcer from Murray State.

"I'm really proud of those two for their play this weekend," Head Coach Lee Taylor Walker said. "They were down 5-2 and came back to win that match, so that was a big weekend for us."

The doubles crown is the first championship doubles win for a Lady Tiger tandem in their home tournament since Andrea Feichtinger and Alex Tjioe won the No. 2 doubles title in 2003.

In singles play, UALR's Latetitia Bourgeon claimed the No. 1 singles championship with a 6-0, 6-3 win over Southern Illinois' Michela Cruise. UALR's Partres Cortez won the consolation championship for No. 1 singles with a 7-6 (3), 7-6 (5) thriller Saturday afternoon. Ball State's Hayley Hall won the No. 2 singles championship, defeating Marta Gomez-Jordana, 6-2, 6-1, while UALR's Anne Weijenborg defeated Alexis Webb, 5-7, 6-0, 11-9 in the consolation draw.

In No. 3 singles, Ball State's Jennifer Pollack defeated Murray's Ashley Pierson, 6-1, 4-6, 10-4 to win the championship title. In the backdraw, Murray's Adriana Alvarez defeated Southern Illinois' Amanda Taillefer, 2-6, 7-6, 10-6 for the championship.

In the final singles draw, UALR's Nathalia Gray came back from a 7-5 first set loss to win the second sets 7-5, 10-7 to claim the No. 4 singles title over Ball State's Emma Retter, while Western Kentucky's Francis Trigg claimed the consolation championship with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Murray's Katelyn Fulcher.
