The University of Memphis women's tennis team (11-12, 1-3) won its opening
round of the Conference USA Championships, 4-0, over Saint Louis University,
Thursday.
The Lady Tigers won two of the three doubles matches for the doubles point,
and then won their singles matches at No. 1, 3 and 5 to seal the win.
Memphis advances to the second round where they will play top seed UAB,
at 9 a.m., Friday. The Blazers swept Memphis 7-0, less than a week ago and are
currently ranked No. 61 in the country.
In other action at the C-USA Championships, Thursday, Houston defeated
Charlotte, 4-0, to advance to the second round where the Cougars will face
No. 4 seed Marquette at 9 a.m., Friday.
