El Paso, Texas-- -
The University of Memphis women's tennis team fell to 9-9 on the season
with a 6-1 loss to No. 67 Long Beach State in the final match of the Lady
Tigers' Texas road swing, Sunday.
Memphis claimed the doubles point from the nationally ranked 49ers when the
duo of Christina Ladyman and Sabrina Lindemann won an exciting No. 1
doubles match, 9-8. The score of the tiebreaker was 11-9, Memphis.
The No. 2 team of Betsy Card and Annika Westberg also downed their LBSU
opponents, 8-5.
But it was too much power when the singles matches played out, with only
Card succeeding in taking her opponent at No. 3 singles to a third set.
The Lady Tigers were 0-3 on the Texas swing, playing two nationally ranked
teams in the span of three days at El Paso.
Memphis travels to Little Rock, Ark., to face UALR, Wednesday, on their
final regular season road trip. The Lady Tigers then wrap up the season
at home against Cincinnati and UAB, Apr. 13-14, before travelling to
Hattiesburg for the league championships, Apr. 19th.
