The University of Memphis women's tennis team won five singles matches and the doubles point in a 6-1 win over SIU, Saturday morning, at Rhodes College. The win improves Memphis to 3-6 on the season.
Memphis opened the competition with wins at No. 2 and 3 doubles to jump ahead 1-0 early in the match. Memphis finished the No. 1 doubles match in a tiebreaker, falling 8-7 (10-8), then moving into the singles competition, where the Lady Tigers got wins from Brooke Cowie, Andrea Feichtinger, Kristin Noble, Christina Wieser and Alex Tjioe to snap a five-match losing streak.
Memphis will travel to Myrtle Beach, S.C. to face C-USA foe East Carolina, Friday. The Lady Tigers will then face Coastal Carolina, Saturday, and UAB, Sunday. Memphis will next play at home Mar. 28th against Troy.
