CHAPEL HILL, NC - The University of Memphis women's soccer team will play UNC-Greensboro in the first round of the NCAA Championship on Friday, Nov. 16, at 7:30 pm ET. The first and second round of this region will be played at UNC-Chapel Hill. The winner of this game will play the winner of UNC-Chapel Hill versus High Point on Sunday, Nov. 18, at 1:00 pm ET, in the second round game. This is the Lady Tigers' first appearance in the championship in the programs' 13 year history.
The Lady Tigers will play in their biggest game of the season tomorrow, as the first round of the NCAA Women's Soccer Championship begins. Memphis will face off with UNC-Greensboro in its first challenge. The Spartans are 15-4-1 on the season. They lost to Furman in the championship game of the Southern Conference Championship Tournament.
Memphis is coming off a record breaking season, including a Conference USA Championship title, in which they beat UCF, 2-0. With that win, the Lady Tigers improved their record to 17-3-1. They are also Co-C-USA regular season champs with the Knights.
Head coach Brooks Monaghan is making his first postseason appearance. He has led the squad to its most impressive record in school history and its best C-USA finish, while also earning 2007C-USA Women's Soccer Coach of the Year honors.
