Memphis, Tenn.-- -
The University of Memphis women's soccer team is set to host Southeast Missouri State Tuesday in a match scheduled for 7 p.m. at Echles Field. The Lady Tigers (0-2-1) are coming off a 0-0 double-overtime draw with Evansville that snapped a two-game losing streak in which freshman goalkeeper Amy Clunie posted her first-career shutout.
"I was really pleased with how the team played against Evansville," head coach Brooks Monaghan said. "It was disappointing that we didn't win, but our girls played soccer how I knew they could. Now, we just have to carry that momentum over into our match with a tough Southeast Missouri State squad."
The Otahkians sufferred their first loss of the season in its last match dropping a 2-0 decision to No. 11 Auburn. SEMO (1-1-1) opened their season with a 2-1 win over Ohio, then tied Oakland 0-0 in double overtime.
This will be the second meeting between the two schools. Memphis won the first match 2-1 last season at Southeast Missouri State as former Lady Tiger standouts Alison Baker and Becca Amrozowicz each scored a goal.
SEMO will be the first of three schools from the state of Missouri that the Lady Tigers will play in succession. Following their match with the Otahkians, Memphis will travel to Springfield, Mo., this weekend where the Lady Tigers will play Southwest Missouri State on Friday at 7 p.m., and Drury on Sunday at Noon.
