Led by five first-place finishes, including two first and second-place finishes
in the 100 and the 400-meter dashes, the University of Memphis men's
track team finished third at the Arkansas State Track Classic, Saturday.
The sprinters had an outstanding day for Memphis, with senior Larry Crawford
winning the 100 in 10.67, while junior Franck Diadhiou finished second
in 10.84.
A second pair of Tigers finished one-two in the 400-meter dash, which was
won by senior Chris Ingram in 47.82 seconds. Junior Kris Harmon finished
second in 48.17 seconds.
Memphis also won four other events, including the 4x100-meter relay (40.87),
and Crawford's win in the 200 in 21.39 seconds. Junior Courtland Perry
won the triple jump with a best effort of 13.86 meters (45-6), while freshman
Greg Doughty won the javelin with a best mark of 59.26 meters (194-5).
Host Arkansas State won the meet with 177 points, while Murray State finished
second with 148 1/2 points. Memphis was third with 146 points, Missouri-Rolla
was fourth with 73 1/2 points and Hendrix College rounded out the top five
with 22 points. Middle Tennessee State finished seventh with 19 points.
