MEMPHIS, Tenn.-- The University of Memphis men's soccer coach Richie Grant announced the signing of their latest recruit, Daniel Ronan of Blanchardstown, Ireland to a National Letter of Intent for the 2002 season.

The former Colaiste Ide forward becomes the Tiger's ninth signee in 2002 and is the fifth in a growing list of alumni from the Colaiste Ide program at Memphis. Ronan will join fellow newcomer Gary Connolly as well as present Tigers Graham Gibbs, John Reilly and assistant coach Paul Conway.

With the departure of All-Time leading points scorer, Sean Fraser and Lars Thorstensen, who led the team in assists last season, to graduation, Tiger head coach Richie Grant looks for Ronan to play a role in igniting the Memphis offensive in the fall of 2002.

The native of Blanchardstown, Ireland represented his country on a U-14 national team and also received an All-Ireland Medal, awarded to the best in the country, for his U-15 Club Team's achievements. He was also a member of the Leinster U-17 Club team and just completed competion for the Home Farm club team in Ireland.

Ronan grew familiar with the Memphis program when he scored the lone goal for Colaiste Ide in an exhibition match that resulted in a 1-1 decision against the Tigers this past spring.
