VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - Merrecia James (Portland, Jamaica/G.C. Foster) took her second title of Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Cross-Country Athlete of the Week for her performance at the Delaware Invitational #2 this past weekend, leading the Hawks of the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) to a third place finish overall. James, a junior, previously earned the award back on September 12th. This past weekend she posted a time of 18:44 on the 5K (3.1 miles) course, finishing first overall out of 124 runners from 12 different teams. This is her second fastest time of the season. Also receiving recognition was Peter Sang (Kapsabet, Kenya/Kapsabet Boys H.S.) who won the men's race at the same meet. He completed the 5 mile course in 25:53 and led the Hawks to a third place finish in the meet. |
