Jan. 13, 2003 10/24/2002 - " UMES CROSS-COUNTRY SHOWS OFF AT UNIVERSITY OF DELAWARE" NEWARK, DE- The UMES men and women's cross-country teams had good showings this weekend at the University of Delaware. They recorded a fourth place finish in the women's race and a third in the men's race. Barnabus Togom placed second overall in the five-mile race with a time of 26:10.24, his best this year. Damion Drummond who recorded a 13th overall finish with a time of 27:34.32 followed him closely. Marlon Tomlinson and Raffaele Simpson finished 22nd and 23rd with less then one second separating them. Frederick Keter rounded out UMES's top five in 32nd. These finishes were good enough for a third place finish behind the University of Delaware and University of Pennsylvania. Towson, Hofstra, Delaware State, Wesley College and Lincoln University would round out the meet. Evelynn Mendoza would finish 19th for UMES as their highest women's finisher. She recorded a time of 25:52.24. Nicole Stanley would record a 23rd place finish, Tasha Century would finish 25th, Meghan Cathey would finish 28th, and Alyssa Walker would come home 30th to round out the top five UMES finishers on the 6k course. This would place UMES fourth behind Towson, Hofstra, and Delaware. Wesley College would finish fifth and Lincoln University sixth. |
