GREENSBORO, NC- The University of Maryland Eastern Shore Cross-Country teams ran in the MEAC Championships this weekend in Greensboro, North Carolina, with the men's team finishing 3rd and the women's team coming in 4th overall.

Barnabus Togom had a terrific race to pace the UMES men, finishing in second place overall with a time of 25 minutes and 30 seconds, only seven seconds behind winner Joseph Terer of Norfolk State. Damon Drummond was the next highest Hawk finisher, coming in tenth place overall with a time of 27 minutes and one second. Norfolk State won the men's division, with Howard also placing above UMES in second.

The Hawk women were once again led by freshman Eva Slavikova, who finished fourth overall with a time of 19 minutes and 15 seconds, only 28 seconds behind first-place finisher Tasha Harris of Howard. Howard won the women's division, followed by Hampton, Norfolk State and UMES.

Hawk's top men's finishers: Barnabus Togom (2nd, 25.30); Damon Drummond (10th, 27:01); Frederick Keter (13th, 27:11); Marlon Tomlinson (14th, 27.12).

UMES top women's finishers: Eva Slavikova (4th, 19:15); Evelyn Mendoza (15th, 20.03); Tasha Century (25th, 20.36).
