Hunt Valley, MD - The University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) had a solid outing from the men's cross-country team, taking a second place finish in the DI race behind the running of Alfred Singoei (26.53) who was second and Geoffrey Rutto who was ninth (27.45) overall. Christopher Havrilla took a 23rd place finish in a field of over 100 runners while Clayton James came home 37th. On the women's side the Lady Hawks came home in sixth place, ahead of MEAC rival Coppin State and saw Janeth Chelangat take home a 20th place finish among DI runners. Nada Khalili was 24th among the same competitors. The following text is the offical release from Towson University Media Relations and appears courtesy of their office: Junior Britta Nelson (Havre deGrace H.S./Havre deGrace, Md.) of Towson University won the individual championship for the second meet in a row to lead the Tiger women's team to a first place finish in the Division I women's race at the Towson Invitational Meet at Oregon Ridge Park on Saturday. Led by sophomore Caitlin Bradley (Warde H.S./Fairfield, Conn.), Dickinson College edged Salisbury University to win the Division II-III women's race. On the men's side, Salisbury edged Dickinson to win the Division II-III men's race while Navy placed five runners in the top 20 to win the Division I men's championship. For the host Tigers, Nelson won the women's race with a time of 18:22, just three seconds off the course record and 15 seconds better than the time she recorded in winning the Baltimore Metro Meet last week. Nelson was one of three Tiger runners to finish among the top 12 in the 14-team women's race. Senior Megan Lerch (Kingsway Regional H.S./Mullica Hill, N.J.) of Towson finished as runner-up for the second straight meet. She finished with a time of 18:32 while senior Michelle Henschel (Island Trees H.S./Levittown, Md.) ran 12th with a time of 19:26. In winning the Division I race, the Tigers had 26 points, well ahead of runner-up Delaware State (79). Norfolk State (87) edged George Mason (90) for third place. Bradley led Dickinson to the Division II-III title as she finished third in the race with a time of 18:48. She was one of three Dickinson runners to place among the top five as senior Abby Ferguson (Hempfield H.S./Lancaster, Pa.) was fourth (19:06.00) and freshman Darcy McDonald (Warwick H.S./Lititz, Pa.) finished fifth with a time of 19:10. Senior Scott Koehler (Broadneck H.S./Annapolis, Md.) and sophomore Eric Graves (Catonsville H.S./Catonsville, Md.) led Salisbury to the Division II-III men's title as they both finished among the top six. Koehler finished fourth in the men's race with a time of 27:13 while Graves took sixth place (27:24). Their efforts enabled the Sea Gulls to hold off Dickinson, which was led by senior Tom Rhodes (Upper Dublin H.S./Willow Grove, Pa.). Rhodes won the individual title on the men's side with a time of 26:35, beating Alfred Singoei (Nairobi, Kenya) of Maryland Eastern Shore by 18 seconds. Despite Singoei's second place finish, UMES finished second in the Division I men's race behind Navy. Freshman William Prom (Eisenhower H.S./New Berlin, Wis.) was the top runner for the Mids as he finished seventh in the race with a time of 27:28.
