PRINCESS ANNE, MD - The University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) outdoor track and field team will travel to Kissimmee, FL to compete in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Championships on Thursday, April 28 - Saturday, April 30. The Championships, held at Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex, will feature all 11 MEAC institutions.

The Lady Hawks will look for strong performances from the 2005 MEAC Indoor 3000m champion Eva Slavikova. The Czech Republic native owns the top women's conference time in the event. Her 9:37 finish on April 16 at the Lou Onesty Invite eclipsed the UMES school record, originally set by her last year, by ten seconds.

Several other accolades were accomplished during the 2004-5 outdoor season. Dwayne Robinson and Kimani Kirton qualified for NCAA Regional Championships with their stellar performances in the hurdles and field events. Robinson first qualified for the championships with his 14.29 performance in the 110m hurdles at the Charlotte 49er meet on 3/18. He improved on his performance twice since then and has set a new school record with his 14.02 finish at the Lou Onesty invite on 4/17.

Kirton also qualified for NCAA Regionals at the Charlotte 49er invite with a throw of 16.26m in the men's shot put. He improved on his standings and also broke the 2002 UMES shot put record set by Karl Noble with his throw of 18.17m at the Lou Onesty invite on 4/17.

The Hawks will be in action following the MEAC Championships, next traveling to Fairfax, Virginia to participate in the George Mason Spring Invite on Saturday, May 6.
