Junior Brooke Brodhead Continues To Lead The Cowgirls' Offense
 
 
Cowgirls Travel To Stephen F. Austin For Rare Mid-Week SLC Series

LAKE CHARLES-- McNeese State's softball team (22-26, 8-7 SLC) will travel to Nacogdoches, TX. Tuesday for a rare mid-week Southland Conference series against Stephen F. Austin (17-25, 10-8 SLC). A 5 p.m. doubleheader is scheduled for Tuesday with the series concluding with a 2 p.m. game Wednesday.

With four league series remaining on the Cowgirls' schedule, McNeese enters this series in seventh place behind Texas-Arlington, Sam Houston State, Texas-San Antonio, Texas State, Stephen F. Austin and Nicholls State. McNeese is coming off a 2-1 SLC series victory over Central Arkansas over the weekend. The top six teams at the end of the regular season will advance to the Southland Conference Tournament in Huntsville, Tx. May 11-13.

McNeese will host Nicholls State this weekend, travel to Texas State April 28-29 before concluding the regular season with a home series against Texas-San Antonio May 5-6.

Brooke Brodhead continues to lead the Cowgirls in eight offensive categories including a .356 batting average and a .610 slugging percent. Brodhead also leads the team in hits, runs scored, doubles, home runs, and total bases. She ranks in the top 10 in the SLC in eleven categores and in the top 5 in runs scored (5th), hits (t4), doubles (2nd), total bases (4th), plate appearances (4th) and at bats (5th).

Shortstop Liz Morvant leads the league and ranks nationally with 19 stolen bases. She also leads the league with 23 stolen base attempts. Catcher/designated player Jenny Clay is right behind and ranks second in the SLC with 14 stolen bases.

Pitcher's Jana Jones and Rachel Hodlik lead the Cowgirls with eight victories on the year. Jones leads the team with a 2.91 ERA and 106 innings pitched. Cori Bram leads the team with 83 strikeouts.

Stephen F. Austin enters the series having lost three of its last four games and is coming off a 2-1 SLC series loss at Texas State over the weekend.

Briana Bishop leads the Ladyjacks at the plate with a .298 batting average, 34 hits, eight doubles and six home runs.

Kari Hugie and Ashley Wilburn both lead the pitching staff with eight victories apiece. Wilburn leads the team with 50 strikeouts.
