Softball Team Returns Home This Weekend

McNeese State's softball team returns to action this weekend to host Stephen F. Austin in a Southland Conference series. A 1 p.m. doubleheader is scheduled for Saturday with a single game at 1 p.m. Sunday.

McNeese (10-19, 2-7 SLC) will look to snap a six game losing streak after dropping the final game of a SLC series to Texas-San Antonio then a series at Texas State last weekend and most recently a doubleheader loss at UL-Lafayette on Wednesday.

Designated player Christina Allen continiues to lead the Cowgirls with a .317 batting average and 26 hits.

Second baseman Brooke Brodhead is second on the team with a .276 batting avearage and leads the team with seven doubles while shortstop Kristi Hanan leads the team with 16 RBI's and three triples.

Pitcher Jessica Denham (5-12) leads the team with five victories, 112 innings pitched 94 strikeouts and a 2.75 ERA. Denham will be looking to snap a four game losing streak.

Stephen F. Austin (9-18, 1-8 SLC) comes to Lake Charles after a doubleheader at UL-Lafayette last night.

The Ladyjacks entered its doubleheader at ULL on a three game losing streak after dropping a three game Southland Conferece series at Texas-San Antonio last weekend. Their lone SLC victory was a 7-6 win over Northwestern State in the second game of the series.
