Senior Lisa Westman Garners Third Consecutive SLC "Player of the Year" Honor
 
 
Senior Lisa Westman Named SLC "Player of the Year"

PLANO, Texas-- Senior Lisa Westman has been named the league's women's golf "Player of the Year" for the third consecutive year as well as being named to the all-league first team.

A native of Stockholm, Sweden, Westman finished in the Top 20 five times this season and placed in the Top 5 twice. Westman won the McNeese State Spring Invitational with a 222 tournament total. The other top 5 finish was at the CenturyTel Bobcat Classic where she placed second.

During the season, Westman garnered SLC player of the week honors twice (Feb. 15 and Feb. 21). She ended the season leading the Cowgirls and ranking second in the league with a 76.1 stroke average in 16 rounds. She produced her best round of year with 73 on the final day of the Cowgirls Invitational.

Freshman Maggie Welch Named To All-SLC Second Team


Freshman Maggie Welch also represented McNeese as a second team selection. Welch, a native of Syracuse, KS. tied for ninth place at the SLC Championship with a total of 238.

Welch had three Top 10 finishes in her first collegiate season. Her highest finish was seventh place at the Cowgirl Invitational and produced her lowest round of the year with a 74 at the Samford Invitational. Welch ended the season behind Westman with a 79.4 scoring average in 16 rounds played.
