CORPUS CHRISTI, Tx.-- McNeese State's women's golf team finished fourth in the 15 team field here Tuesday at the Ed Hicks Nissan Islander Classic after shooting a final round of 300. McNeese entered the final day of play in seventh play with a 614 after two rounds on Monday.

Southland Conference foe Sam Houston State won the team champion with a 892, defeating day one leader Missouri State University by four strokes with a 896. Lamar placed third with a 906.

Tinna Johannsdottir shot a one over par 73 to finished in a tie for 23rd place with a tournament score of 229 to lead the Cowgirls. Other Cowgirl scorers were Sara Ekermann (t27) with a 230, Hannah Bagwell (t30) with a 231, Maggie Welch (t33) with a 232 and Lacy McKinley (t37) with a 233. Jennifer Herrmann tied for 65th place with a 244.

Central Arkansas Christina Lecuyer was the individual medalist with a tournament round of 215, defeating Oral Roberts' Pamela Ontiveros and Christy Carter and Sam Houston State's Wendy Joyner by four strokes with a 219.

The Cowgirls will travel to South Alabama next week to take part in the South Alabama Tournament on Monday and Tuesday.
