Funeral services announced for former Cowboy football player C. J. Moore

June 20, 2006

Funeral services for former McNeese State football player C. J. Moore will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at the St. Peters Catholic Church in Covington.

Prior to that visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Forrest Park Funeral Home in Conroe, TX on Wednesday and from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the E. J. Fielding Funeral Home in Covington on Friday. A wake will also be held on Friday.

Also, visitation is from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday at the St. Peters Catholic Church. Moore, 59, passed away Monday morning.

Moore, who was an offensive guard for the Cowboys, was a four year letterman from 1967 to 1970, playing for Jim Clark and Jack Doland. The 1967 team won the Gulf States Conference title.

He went into coaching after graduating from McNeese and served stints at Ponchatoula High and Covington High, helping that team to a state championship. He later became head coach at St. Paul's High in Covington.

Moore later joined the Horace Mann Insurance Agency and retired after becoming regional manager over seven states for the company. In later years he and his wife Amy owned an interior decorating company in Houston.

He is survied by his wife Amy (the former Amy DeCook of Lake Charles), daughter Monica Reid and son Chad Moore and five grand children.
