McNeese State will conclude its spring football workouts with its annual Blue-Gold game Thursday at 6 p.m. in Cowboy Stadium.

The team has been divided for the event which will consist of four, 10 minute quarters.

Head coach Matt Viator said that he has been pleased with the progress of the team during the spring and that he hoped to have a good game on Thursday with no players getting injured.

Derrick Fourroux, the rookie of the year in the Southland Conference last year, will quarterback the Gold team while Mark Fontenot will start for the Blue team.

Joining Fourroux in the Gold backfield will be Jamie Leonard at tailback and Jordy Johnson at fullback. Toddrick Pendland and Terez Jackson will join Fontenot in the Blue backfield.

Viator is listing three wide receivers as starters for both units. Quinten Lawrence, Carlese Franklin and Richard Conner will start for the Gold and Immanuel Friddle, Steven Whitehead (the SLC Player of the Year in 2006) and Ramon Smothers for the Blue.

Other starters on offense for the Gold team will be Kyle Link at tight end, Josh Donovan at center, Eman Naghavi and Matt Fruge at guard and Casey Richter and Josh Hurd at tackle.

Rounding out the offensive line for the Blue will be Wes Mangan at tight end, Lance Fremin at center, Chris Robin and Jimbo Hill at guard and David Ballard and James Jordan at tackle.

Twelve starters are also listed for the defense as the Cowboys will at times utilize three linebackers.

Starters on defense for the Gold will be Bryant Mason, Vaalyn Jackson, Travis Thibodeaux and Kenton Alleyne in the line, Allen Nelson, David Turnage and Matt Kreamer at linebacker and LaDarius Key, Jeremy Haynes, Brant Linde, Detrick Taylor and Kody Knox in the secondary.

For the Blue, All-American Bryan Smith, Jerrell White, Kenneth Lundy and Josh Ellison will start in the line, Trey Bennett, Garren Jim and Jeremy Burks at linebacker and Jonathan Walker, Deshawn Camp, Jamelle Juneau, John Vigers and Josh Quayhagen in the secondary.

Blake Bercegeay will punt and kick field goals for both teams while Robert Polanski will kick PATs for both squads.

Missing the spring game due to injuries will be Steven Mistretta, Brandon Broussard, Jared Dolan, Kirby Joseph, Kris Bush, Josh Bass, Darrick Brown, Tyson Sibley and Hunter Davis. Also, Marcus Brown is competing in track and Deron Minor in baseball.

Serving as coaches for the Gold team will be Lark Hebert, Zack Bronson, Buck Harris, Tim Leger and Jeff Breaux and coaching the Blue team will be Jason Rollins, Jake Morrison, Anthony Camp, Carlos McGee and Reggie Nelson.
