Michelle Rzepka - all-SLC academic

Kay and Rzepka named to Southland Conference all-academic track and field team

June 23, 2006

McNeese State's Nicholas Kay and Michelle Rzepka have been named to the Southland Conference all-academic track and field team.

Kay, a senior from Bolton, England, won the league's steeplechase title this past season while Rzepka, a graduate student from Novi, Michigan was the SLC's women's pole vault champion and went on to tie for sixth place at the NCAA championship meet.

Kay holds a 3.67 overall grade point average in Heath and Human Performance while Rzepka produced a perfect 4.00 gpa as a graduate student.

A total of 26 athletes from universities in the conference were honored on the team. UT San Antonio's Bryan Wolfe and Texas State's Sarah Stultz were named student athletes of the year.

The all-academic team honors student-athletes who were named as a national all-academic recipient this year while also earning at least a 3.00 grade point average. Remaining spots on the all-academic teams are then voted on by the head coaches, sports information directors and academic/compliance administrators.
