Tommy McClelland presents flag to John O'Meara

Cowboy Round-Up Makes Lafayette Stop

June 21, 2007

An estimated crowd of about 125 fans, friends, supporters, former, current and future McNeese State athletes attended the second leg of the McNeese State Cowboy Round-Up Tour at the Lafayette Petroleum Club Wednesday night. The program kicked off with a meet and greet followed by comments from coaches from all sports. Sports Information Director Louis Bonnette served as master of ceremonies.

Head coaches Andrew Fitzgerald (soccer), Dale Starr (volleyball), Sara Vogt (softball), Brooks Donald Williams (women's basketball), Dave Simmons (men's basketball) and Matt Viator (football) represented their respective sports. All coaches spoke about their sport before the program concluded with more socializing.

John Romero also presented with McNeese State flag

Interim Athletics Director Tommy McClelland presented McNeese flags to John O'Meara and Keith Romero. "I would like to thank John and Keith for helping organize the event and for everyone who attended," said McClelland.

The objective of the Round-Up is to promote McNeese Athletics and to get individuals interested in our program as well as our booster clubs. Ivan Landry was the first individual to join "Partner with the Pokes", a new program to help support McNeese Athletics.

The next tour stop is scheduled for Friday, June 22 at Little Cypress-Mauriceville High School in Orange, Texas.
