Marshall Track Finishes Regular Indoor Season at Scarlet and Gray Invitational

Complete Release in PDF Format COLUMBUS, Ohio- Marshall's distance runners Stephanie Eastman (Spencer, W.Va.), Marian Brooks (Flat Top, W.Va.), Hannah Kovarik (Hurricane, W.Va.) and Anna Chaney (Huntington, W.Va.) rounded out the regular indoor season with strong finishes at the Scarlet and Gray Invitational at Ohio State Saturday. Eastman ran for a season best time of 2:25.49 in the 800m for third place in the event. Stephanie Achilles (Deptford, N.J) and Fabiola Gonzales (Huntington, W.Va) Ran in the 800m event as well and finished eighth and 11th. Brooks just missed the top finish in the one mile run by just three seconds. Her run of 5:13.40 earned her second place and becomes her season best time in the event. Chaney ran for an eighth place finish with her time of 5:47.48. In the 3000m Kovarik claimed fourth with her time of 11:22.06. Laura Lavery (Alliance, Ohio) finished in 13th. Carmisa Morris (Greenville, S.C.) advanced to the finals of the 55m dash and earned sixth with her time of 7.52. The time also becomes her new season best time in the event. Katina Morris (Erie, Pa.) and Cathryn Morris (Erie, Pa.) finished eighth (27.31) and 17th (29.88) in the 200m, respectively. Cathryn also ran in the 400m and finished fifth with her time of 1:07.61.
In the field events Marshall recorded five out of seven top 10 finishes. LaTricia Jones (Spartanburg, S.C.) placed sixth in the shot put with her throw of 39-10. Jessica Pissini (Hermitage, Pa.) was just one spot behind Jones with a throw of 37-11.25. Danyell Garner (Logan, W.Va.) claimed 12th with her heave of 31-02.50 in the event. Britani Burke (Proctorville, Ohio) earned sixth in the weight throw with her toss of 45-11.75. Jones placed eighth with a throw of 44-01.50 and Pissini ninth with her throw of 43-10.5. Rachel Bilek (Hebron, Ind.) earned 12th when recorded a throw of 38-10.50. The Herd's next outing will be at the Conference USA Championship on Feb. 24 and 25 in Houston, Texas. |
