HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - The Thundering Herd tennis team continued to march through the competition with its seventh consecutive 7-0 win Saturday afternoon against the Akron Zips.

Marshall dropped only two games the entire day against the Zips to improve to 14-7 overall and 6-1 in the MAC. The Zips fall to 6-17, 0-7 in the MAC.

The Herd got off to a quick start and never looked back as it clinched the doubles point with three 8-0 wins.

"It was a good afternoon for the Herd," Marshall head coach John Mercer said. "We jumped on them early and continued to play well. Akron's been a having a tough year so we wanted to come out and try to play a focused match. I thought we had a very good match."

The Herd continued to roll in singles as it almost played a perfect match. Marshall lost one game from the No. 1 singles position and another on court five.

Ashley Kroh (Louisville, Ky.), Lille Nzudie (Duoala, Cameroon), Joelle Good (Zurich, Switzerland), Danielle Hock (Wigan, England), Jeanne Schwartz (West Palm Beach, Fla.), and Shannon Brown (Overland Park, Kan.) won in respective order from the No. 1 - 6 spots.

Joelle Good's victory at No. 3 singles was the 89th of her career, moving her into a tie for third place on the all-time career singles wins list. Good needs just four more wins to tie the all-time record.

The Herd will be in action again next weekend as it closes out MAC regular season play against Ball State and Bowling Green at the Brian David Fox Tennis Center on Marshall's campus.
