Women's Soccer Opens Homestand

The Marshall University women’s soccer team opens an important homestand this weekend at Sam Hood Field. Marshall’s women(5-5-1, 2-3-1 MAC) play the University of Buffalo at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. On Sunday the team will play the University of Miami at 2:30 p.m. The Sunday game will follow up the men’s contest against Bowling Green which will begin at noon.

Marshall’s women are currently tied for ninth place in the Mid-American Conference. The team is looking for its break out game this weekend as they face two of the top teams in the conference. Marshall leads the league in goals against, allowing only eight goals in 11 matches. The team is also third in points in the conference and second in assists.

Miami (7-4-0, 4-1-0 MAC) is currently ranked 3rd in the MAC with a 4-1 conference record. The Herd has proven to be a nemesis for the RedHawks beating them the last two times the teams have met at Sam Hood Field. Buffalo (7-5-0, 6-2-0 MAC) is currently ranked first in the MAC and the Herd will be looking to pull off an upset this weekend against the conference power.

Marshall women’s soccer will continue its homestand next weekend with matches on Friday and Sunday.
