CITRUS SPRINGS, Fla. -- The El Diablo Golf and Country Club will host two premier collegiate golfing events, the El Diablo Intercollegiate and the Lady Herd El Diablo Intercollegiate, from March 18-21 in Citrus Springs, Fla. Marshall University will serve as host school for both tournaments.
The 7th Annual El Diablo Intercollegiate begins on Saturday, March 18, and like the previous six years, features some of the nation's top men's collegiate golfers. Thirty-six holes will be played on Saturday, with the final 18 holes taking place on Sunday, March 19, on the 7,045-yard, par-72 course.
Nineteen teams are participating in the men's tournament. They are: Akron, Army, Bradley, Charleston Southern, Cleveland State, DePaul, Eastern Kentucky, Elon, Florida Atlantic, Florida Gulf Coast, George Mason, Jacksonville, Northern Illinois, Northern Iowa, 2005 champion Oklahoma City, Western Carolina, Winthrop, Wright State, and the host Thundering Herd will all compete on Saturday and Sunday.
Jay Pannone of the University of Rhode Island claimed medalist honors last year at El Diablo.
The 4th Annual Lady Herd El Diablo Intercollegiate begins on Monday, March 20, with a 36-hole shotgun start, with the final 18 holes being played on Tuesday, March 21.
Fourteen teams will compete on the 5,952-yard, par-72 El Diablo - Boston College, Cincinnati, Eastern Kentucky, Florida Atlantic, Hartford, Maryland, Missouri State, Murray State, North Texas, Western Carolina, Wichita State, Xavier, Youngstown State, and host Marshall will tee it up Monday and Tuesday.
Coastal Carolina claimed the 2005 crown, and Katy Heher of Coastal Carolina won the individual portion of the tournament.
