Marshall's Catie Knable Named MAC East Division Co-Player of the Week
2/18/2002
CLEVELAND, OHIO--Marshall sophomore Catie Knable was named Mid-American Conference Co-Player of the Week for her outstanding play last week. The 6’2 forward from Floyd Knobs, Indiana, averaged 12 points and 15.5 rebounds in wins over Buffalo and Bowling Green last week.
Knable, whose career-high 21 rebounds against Bowling Green placed her fourth on the Marshall all-time list for a single-game rebounding performance, shared the award with Ohio guard Cathy Szall. The 21 boards is the eight-best MAC single game performance, and the most rebounds one individual has had in a game since Cheryl Bowles pulled down 21 caroms for the Akron Zips against Youngstown State on November 30th, 1999.
Knable, who has never won the weekly MAC award, helped the Herd to consecutive victories in conference play for the first time since wins over Western Michigan and Central Michigan in January of last season.
Marshall continues MAC play with a game against the Miami Redhawks Tuesday night in Oxford, Ohio. Tip time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
