HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Marshall men's soccer sophomore defender Jeff Lenix (Westerville, Ohio/Westerville North) has been honored with a selection to the third team on the All-Great Lakes Region team, announced Thursday by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.
Lenix is Marshall's first All-Great Lakes Region honoree since Byron Carmichael earned second team honors in 2000 and 2001. He also earned second-team All-Conference USA honors at defense.
Marshall finished with an 8-9-2 overall record and 4-3-2 mark in its inaugural season in Conference USA. After a slow start, the Herd went 6-2-1 over its final nine matches. Led by Lenix, the Herd defense came to the forefront down the stretch of the season, holding its opponents scoreless for 479:17 before allowing a goal in the Conference USA semifinals vs. Tulsa.
