DAYTON, Ohio - Down 2-0 with 20 minutes left, the Thundering Herd men's soccer team scored three goals in the final minutes to top the Wright State Raiders, 3-2, Friday night in Dayton.

"It was a great win, our guys gutted it out," Herd coach Bob Gray said. "All of our guys gave a great effort, they did not give up and our work paid off."

Wright State (5-9-1) took a 1-0 lead on the Herd (8-6-2) when Jason Tackis scored on a breakaway just over nine minutes into the game. The Raiders extended their lead to 2-0 with a little more than two minutes remaining in the first half.

After having only five shots in the first half, Marshall came back with 11 shots in the second half. The work paid off for Marshall as Jared Dombrowski (Pickerington, OH) scored on a point blank shot. Senior Firas Al-Samarraie (Malmoe, Sweden) had the assist.

The Herd tied the game when Karim Boukhemis (Huntington, WV) scored his team-leading fifth goal of the season with a little over two minutes remaining. Clayton Cochrane (Morrisville, PA) was credited with the assist.

With a minute left, Marshall completed the comeback when Kirk Gibson (Allen, TX) scored on a penalty kick. Wright State was unable to muster any offense in the final minute as the Herd took its eighth win of the season.

Both teams played strong offensively as Wright State edged Marshall in shots, 17-16. Greg Terhune (Indianapolis, IN) made five saves in the game, including three in the second half to keep the Herd in the game.

The Herd will try to keep the momentum from tonight's game going when it hosts the Buffalo Bulls on Sunday at Sam Hood Field. The game is slated for a 1 p.m. start. It will mark the final regular season Mid-American Conference game for Marshall.

Coach Gray commented on the game. "We really did not think about it being the last regular season MAC game, we are just focused on going out and trying to win, it will have an effect on our tournament seeding so we just need to win."

Marshall will play their final three games at home, starting with Buffalo on Sunday. The final two games next weekend will be against Illinois-Chicago on Friday at 7 p.m. and Radford on Sunday at 2 p.m.. Admission to Sam Hood Field is free.
