VMI Up Next for Men's Soccer
10/19/2004
HUNTINGTON, W. Va. - The Marshall University men's soccer team will play host to the VMI Keydets on Wednesday night at Sam Hood Field.
The time for that game has been changed to a 5 p.m. start.
Marshall (7-5-2, 2-2-1 MAC) is on a two game win streak after defeating Alabama A&M and Longwood this weekend at home.
Sophomore Karim Boukhemis (Huntington, WV) scored his team-leading fourth goal of the season in Sunday's win against Longwood. Jared Dombrowski (Pickerington, OH) had the other goal on Sunday. In Saturday's game, Firas Al-Samarraie (Malmoe, Sweden) scored on a free kick to give the Herd the 1-0 win over Alabama A&M.
The Virginia Military Institute enters the game with a 9-5-1 record. They had a five-game winning streak halted on Saturday at Winthrop when they fell by a 3-2 score in overtime.
Last season, VMI shut out the Herd, 2-0, in Lexington, VA. Marshall leads the all-time series by a margin of 13-9-4. This will mark the 27th meeting between the two teams. That is the highest number of games Marshall has played against an opponent.
The Herd will be back on the road when it travels to Wright State on Friday night before returning home for its final Mid-American Conference regular season game against Buffalo. The Buffalo game is slated to start on Sunday at 1 p.m. at Sam Hood Field where admission is free.
