HUNTINGTON, W. Va. - Marshall coach Bob Gray, with help from senior Firas Al-Samarraie (Malmoe, Sweden), won his 100th game as head coach of the Thundering Herd as Marshall topped the Alabama A&M Bulldogs, 1-0, Saturday at Sam Hood Field.

Gray came into the season with 94 wins, and today's win gave the Herd a mark of 6-5-2 to give Gray his 100th win at the school.

"It is great to win that many games, but this one did not come easy," Gray said. "Alabama A&M is a tough, skilled team, I am glad we got out of here with a win."

The first half was a back and forth tilt, with each team having their share of possession. Alabama A&M out-shot the Herd, 6-4 in the half. Marshall had a chance to take the lead near the end of the half when freshman Jeff Lenix (Westerville, OH) deflected a shot in front of the net, but the play was called offsides.

In the second half, both teams picked their game up, with each team having more offensive chances. Eugene Sepuya tried to give the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead when he let a shot go from about 30 yards out, but the shot hit the post and the score remained 0-0.

With just 15 minutes left, Alabama A&M was called for a handball in the box, which meant the the Herd would have a free kick. Firas Al-Samarraie took it and beat goalie Bulelani Jada to give MU the lead.

The Bulldogs tried to rally back and had some late chances, but could not get anything past goalie Joe Nebel (Brentwood, TN), and the Herd escaped with the 1-0 win. The game was Nebel's second straight home shutout. He made four saves.

Alabama A&M out-shot MU, 12-8. Clayton Cochrance (Morrisville, PA) led the Herd with three shots.
