Men's Soccer Plays to Scoreless Tie at Kentucky

LEXINGTON, Ky. - The Marshall men's soccer team ended its Conference USA schedule with a 0-0 tie at Kentucky Friday night at the UK Soccer Complex. Marshall (6-8-2) finishes its inaugural campaign in C-USA with a 4-3-2 league record and begins play in the Conference USA tournament Wed., Nov. 9, in Dallas.
The Marshall defense continued its fabulous play of late. The Herd has allowed four goals over the past six games, including just one in the last three. Greg Terhune (Indianapolis, Ind./Lawrence North) recorded five saves in posting his third shutout of the season - all in the last four matches. Terhune has not allowed a goal in the last 236:46 of action. He last surrendered a goal at the 53:16 mark of the Oct. 21 UAB contest.
Marshall also boasts the last two conference defensive player of the week honorees - Jeff Lenix (Westerville, Ohio/Westerville North) last week and Terhune the previous week.
Kentucky (6-6-5, 3-4-2 C-USA) was led by goalkeeper Andy Gruenebaum, who earned his league-best fifth shutout of the season while notching five saves.
Stanton Smith (Cape Town, South Africa/University of Charleston) posted a team-best four shots for Marshall. The Herd out-shot Kentucky, 12-8.
Marshall concludes the regular season at 5 p.m. Wednesday at Radford.
