HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - The University of Illinois shot a final round 295 Sunday to take the 34th annual Marshall Invitational team title with a three round total of 851. The Illini cruised to the victory, distancing themselves from second place finishers Kentucky and Indiana by 22 strokes.

Illinois placed all five of its golfers in the top 15 individuals, with four of them finishing among the tournament's top six. Patrick Nagle and Ryan Tendall finished tied for third at 213, while James Lepp and Garrett Chaussard finished tied for sixth at 214.

Kentucky freshman Matt Kohn won a one hole playoff with Indiana sophomore Jeff Overton to take medalist honors. Kohn and Overton finished Sunday's 18-holes tied at 211 (-2) to force the playoff on the tenth hole at Guyan.

Marshall's Ben Minyard finished 14th overall at 217, while the Thundering Herd placed 12th among the 16 competing schools with a two-day total of 897.

Scores were significantly higher on average in the third round, due to windy conditions. Heavy rain and thunderstorms hit the course in the early morning hours, ushering in windy and cool weather that altered course conditions significantly.
