Marshall Basketball Faces Kent State Thursday in MAC Quarter-final Action

3/5/2002

  • Game Notes

The Thundering Herd will be looking to extend its current three game winning streak and season when it faces Mid-American Conference regular season champion Kent State Thursday at noon in the second round of the MAC Tournament in Cleveland's Gund Arena. The game will not be televised.

Marshall, the eight seed, lost a 73-70 decision to Kent State on a last second shot in Huntington and then lost a 40-point decision two weeks ago at Kent. Since then, Marshall has rattled off three consecutive wins and appears to be playing its best basketball of the year with the elevated play of sophomore Ronald Blackshear and seniors Tamar Slay and J.R. VanHoose.

Kent State has won 15 straight and recorded a MAC record 17 conference wins this season to establish itself as the clear favorite to repeat as MAC Tournament Champions.

Fans traveling to Cleveland can purchase their tickets from the Marshall ticket office by calling 1-800-THE-HERD.
